21 February 2024
Under the leadership of Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, Initiatives, and the National Coordinator of the Initiative, the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects participated in the Marketplace of Innovations exhibition organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome to showcase projects in the fields of agriculture, water, and food, with the presence of a large number of international entities and relevant companies.
Ambassador Hisham Badr stated that the participation of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in the IFAD exhibition is a continuation of the success achieved during the meetings and sessions held at the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change COP28, which took place at the end of 2023 in the United Arab Emirates.
Badr added that during COP28, the initiative successfully engaged with numerous international organizations and entities by presenting its work, objectives, and the winning projects of the initiative, which received positive feedback from attendees regarding the quality of the winning projects that help provide solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Ambassador Hisham Badr emphasized that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects is one of the few significant initiatives that present new ideas in several green and smart fields and participated in the IFAD exhibition.
Assistant Minister of Planning pointed out that during his participation in the exhibition, he discussed the latest developments of the initiative with several international officials, including Gerardin Mucishimana, Deputy Director-General of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, who praised the initiative and affirmed its support, whether as a model for providing solutions to climate change issues or as purposeful projects with innovative ideas.
Ambassador Hisham Badr also affirmed that the participation of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in the Marketplace of Innovations exhibition, organized by IFAD in Rome, comes after the approval of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation) to include the initiative in the agenda of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region, as well as after the collaboration between the initiative and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), reflecting the interest of international and UN organizations in supporting and collaborating with the initiative.
