Planning Minister Participates in OECD Report Launch for Egypt in Paris

Within the framework of cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, attended the launch of the OECD Economic Report for Egypt in Paris on February 22, 2024. This event signifies Egypt's inaugural inclusion in the OECD's comprehensive program, which was signed in 2022 and launched in Cairo in 2023.
During her visit, Dr. Hala El Said engaged in several bilateral meetings aimed at enhancing cooperation, discussing critical issues, and reviewing Egypt's efforts related to climate and investment opportunities. She met with Mr. Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister of Economy and Finance, to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and France. Additionally, she met with Mr. Matthias Cormann, the Secretary-General of the OECD, to discuss the launch of Egypt's economic report.
Dr. Hala El Said also met with Mr. Ulrik Knudsen, the Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, to discuss advancing women's economic empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa region, along with insights and perspectives from key stakeholders. The report, prepared by OECD experts, is being issued for Egypt for the first time as part of activating the activities of the comprehensive program. It reviews the main features of the Egyptian economy and provides recommendations to design effective policies to overcome economic challenges, enhance Egyptian economic performance, and drive comprehensive and sustainable growth.
