Main / Media / News / Gov’t Ministers Evaluate Alexandria's Rain Strategy Project at Egypt Services Center Opening

21 January 2024

At the inauguration of the Egypt Services Center in Alexandria, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, and Major General Mohamed El-Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, inspected the rain strategy project in the governorate on January 21, 2024.

Dr. Hala El-Said highlighted that the rain strategy project in Alexandria addresses annual rainwater challenges faced by the governorate due to ongoing climate changes. She emphasized the collaboration protocol between the Ministry of Planning and the Alexandria Sewage Company, in partnership with the Water Management Administration of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, as a crucial step in executing the comprehensive strategy for rainwater management.

Dr. El-Said emphasized the importance of on-the-ground monitoring of state projects to gain insights, address challenges, and provide necessary solutions for improving citizens' lives. She reiterated that all developmental plans adopted by the state aim to enhance the quality of life for citizens, aligning with the vision outlined in "Egypt 2030."

Governor Mohamed El-Sherif clarified that the integrated rainwater management project, known as "Rain Network Separation," holds substantial potential in achieving sustainable development. It stands as a fundamental solution that has notably mitigated the effects of unprecedented rainfall witnessed in Alexandria each year due to climate changes. El-Sherif noted that residents in areas where the rain drainage network has been implemented are beginning to perceive a reduction in the severity of the issue.

El-Sherif further outlined the strategic objective upon completing all phases of the integrated rainwater management project in Alexandria, which is to fully harness the benefits of every water point within the New Delta project.

The event witnessed the presence of key figures, including Counselor Ashraf Hegazy, Assistant Minister of Justice for Notary and Real Estate Documentation Offices, Counselor Rabie Qassem, Assistant Minister of Justice for the General Authority for Court Buildings, Dr. Ahmed Gamal, and Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Deputy Governors of Alexandria, Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, Ibrahim Serehan, Chairman of the Board of E Finance Company, Engineer Ashraf Abdel Hafez, Assistant Minister of Planning for Digital Transformation and Information Infrastructure, Major General Wael Saada, Supervisor General at the Crisis Room and Control Center of the Ministry of Local Development, Major General Mohamed Zinati, Director of Services for Egypt Alexandria, and Major General Khaled Gomaa, Secretary-General of the Governorate, and Engineer Jehan Masoud, Assistant Secretary-General of the Governorate.
