Egypt-Qatar Collaboration Advances: Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Charts Future Cooperation

In a pivotal encounter, Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Chairperson of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt, engaged in high-level discussions with His Excellency Ambassador Tarek Ali Al-Ansari of the State of Qatar in Cairo.
The meeting, attended by Ambassador Hazem Khairat, Minister's Advisor for International Cooperation, Kamal Nasr, Minister's Assistant for Technical Office Affairs, and Ambassador Ali Al-Jarhab, Second Secretary at the Embassy, aimed to fortify and shape the evolving collaboration between Egypt and Qatar.
Dr. Hala El Said underscored the positive trajectory of political and economic relations, emphasizing mutual visits and collaborative efforts as the foundation for a strengthened partnership.
The Minister discussed key outcomes of her meeting with Her Excellency Lulwa Al-Khatir, Qatari Minister of International Cooperation, in November.
The fruitful exchange explored avenues of cooperation, particularly in areas such as The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), youth capacity building, and the transfer of sustainable development initiatives to the Qatari Ministry of Youth.
Highlighting Egypt's Vision 2030, the national adaptation of the Sustainable Development Agenda, Dr. El Said detailed recent updates available on the official website. The Minister spotlighted various entities, initiatives, and programs, including the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development. Notable among these are initiatives like "Be an Ambassador" and "Green Minds," aimed at promoting sustainable development among youth and raising awareness for sustainable behavior against climate change.
Emphasizing TSFE’s pivotal role as a strategic partner for the private sector, Dr. El Said noted its regional and international standing, attracting foreign investors and contributing competitively to the nation's initiatives. The collaboration between TSFE and Qatar Investment Fund was highlighted as a successful model.
Dr. El Said also referenced the Gulf Roadshow held in February 2023, designed to strengthen investment partnerships, with notable stops in Qatar. The ministry’s statement concludes with anticipation for the upcoming joint Egyptian-Qatari Higher Committee, scheduled for the first quarter of this year, further solidifying the commitment to enhanced cooperation between the two nations.
