NIGSD Launches Research Paper Competition on "Governance & AI”

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development(NIGSD),the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, is pleased to announce the initiation of a research paper competition focusing on "Governance and Artificial Intelligence(AI)." This competition is open to Egyptian and Arab researchers and will run from January 8 to March 1, 2024.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif, the Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, emphasizes the ongoing revolution in Artificial Intelligence (AI). With AI experiencing tremendous growth and witnessing new applications daily across various sectors, the increased use of big data brings both positive and negative impacts. Therefore, the establishment of a legislative and institutional framework is crucial to ensure the responsible and optimal utilization of AI in Egypt.
The targeted participants for the research paper competition on "Governance and Artificial Intelligence" include Egyptian and Arab researchers from diverse sectors and age groups. Competition prizes encompass the publication of research in the institute's journal, recognition as certified trainers in institute activities, and participation in events, initiatives, and activities organized by the institute.
*Competition Objectives and Focus Areas:*
1. Keeping pace with the effects of emerging and increasing applications of Artificial Intelligence.
2. Addressing various challenges posed by AI applications.
3. Exploring future scenarios resulting from AI applications.
4. Examining the relationship between governance principles and AI applications.
5. Emphasizing the importance of incorporating governance principles into AI ethics.
6. Advocating for the development of an ethical charter for the use of emerging technologies.
7. Investigating the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, information governance, data confidentiality, and protection.
*Submission Requirements:*
Research papers must include the researcher's name or research team, academic degree, contact information, a concise title, and description related to the specified objectives. Additionally, the scientific methodology employed in the research, a brief overview of expected results, and submission of an original research copy are required. Ensuring no violation of intellectual property rights of others is paramount.
