Main / Media / News / Egypt, U.S. Boost Economic Ties: Minister El-Said Ignites Talks with Ambassador for Prosperity Pact

29 December 2023

In a significant meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held a productive discussion with Herro Mustafa Garg, the United States Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and her accompanying delegation. The aim was to strengthen collaboration between the two entities.

During the session, Minister El-Said explained the crucial role of the Ministry in formulating annual investment plans, highlighting its commitment to strategically guide public investments. The primary focus remains on improving citizens' quality of life and enhancing access to public services.

It was underscored that efforts should be concentrated on sectors that promote economic growth, sustainable employment opportunities, and address developmental disparities among Egypt's governorates.

Dr. El-Said underscored the Ministry's responsibilities, encompassing the evaluation of proposed investment projects, diversification of funding sources for development plans, and the cultivation of partnerships with the private sector, civil society, and international development collaborators—all in alignment with the objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030, as updated earlier this year.

The Minister delved into the affiliated entities under the Ministry's purview, including The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE),the National Investment Bank, the Demographic Center, the Institute of National Planning (INP)and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD). Key initiatives and programs were discussed, including the National Program for Structural Reforms, the Egyptian Family Development Program, and the Egypt Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials from both sides, demonstrated a commitment to collaboration. Notable attendees included Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister for Sustainable Development, Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, and other key figures from the Egyptian and U.S. delegations.

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development remains steadfast in fostering collaboration, driving sustainable development, and achieving the outlined objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030.
