On Cop28 sidelines: - Egypt’s National Initiative for Smart Green Projects participated in a dialogue session within the activities of Youth, Children, Education, and Skills Day.
The dialogue session witnessed the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the climate pioneer for the Egyptian presidency of COP27, and Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, and General Coordinator of the Initiative.
Eng. Khaled Mustafa, a member of the initiative’s national jury also participated.
During the session, Ambassador Hisham Badr stressed that the initiative brings real Egyptian solutions on the ground to the problems of the environment and climate change, indicating the possibility of transferring it to countries around the world.
He further asserted the importance of the initiative’s endeavor to support its winning projects and the efforts made to build new strategic partnerships.
Ambassador Hisham Badr pointed out the importance of establishing strategic partnerships and unifying work between the Egyptian government, international organizations, and the private sector to support the winning projects and provide the necessary support for their success.
Badr looked at the success stories of the projects that won the first round of the initiative, including the "Injazat" project, which was able to grow its business from $7 million to more than $340 million in a year.
He also shed light on the “Nutrition” project, which went global with the support of the initiative.
Badr explained that according to the projects presented that have environmental solutions with economic returns, the speakers were unanimous in the important role that the initiative plays at the national level in providing Egyptian solutions to reduce the environmental problems facing the governorates.
They also expressed their interest in these projects and their full readiness to support them, communicate through the initiative, and the possibility of benefiting from it and transferring it to many countries.
For his part, Khaled Mustafa said that the initiative represents positive action to confront the risks of climate change through several basic principles, the most important of which is finding real solutions by creating multiple partnerships between the public and private sectors.
