On Cop28 Sidelines: - Amb. Hisham Badr reviews the success of “The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in Egypt

Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives and General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, participated in several sessions held within the activities of COP28) in Dubai.
As part of the initiative’s efforts to empower youth and its keenness to maximize their role in climate action, Ambassador Hisham Badr participated as one of the high-level speakers to discuss student participation in finding solutions to energy problems, which was held in the UAE pavilion as part of the Student Energy Conference, organized by New York University in Abu Dhabi in partnership with UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Similarly, Ambassador Hisham Badr also participated in a session in the Egyptian Pavilion, organized by the British University in Egypt (BUE), as part of the activities of the university’s capacity-building program, in which 160 students from various countries participated.
The session aims to train students in climate literacy, international climate action, personal skills, and practice climate action
For the initiative to maximize its role as a platform for climate action in Egypt, Ambassador Hisham Badr held - on the sidelines of Cop28- several high-level meetings, the most prominent of which was his meeting with the Director of Local Development Finance at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the Green Climate Fund.
He also met with other representatives from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Clinton Foundation, the Forbes Foundation, and the Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy.
Aforementioned meetings included discussions to enhance cooperation and draw up principles of partnership, about supporting and financing the winning projects.
