Egypt’s Planning Minister, NIGSD launch 2nd training program for project management

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry - launched the second project management training program, which is being conducted in cooperation with the Economic Governance Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and BRISK Business Inc.
The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, and Eng: Imad Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BRISK Business Inc.
The session was moderated by Dr. Khaled Zakaria, Advisor to the Minister of Planning for Public Policies and Structural Reforms and Advisor to the Economic Governance Project, Omar Abdullah, Deputy Director of the Economic Governance Project and Eng. Hanan Abdullah, Director of Projects Management at the Ministry.
During the launch of the program, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, said that the presence of several employees in the Ministry holding the International Project Management License would greatly reflect on the professionalism in performance and the quality of the Ministry’s outputs in general.
Ibrahim pointed out that the government apparatus has many good cadres who need distinguished training, which is a win-win for them and the organization they work for.
Ibrahim asserted that the Minister of Planning and Economic Development expressed her willingness to provide unlimited support to train and qualify the ministry’s cadres to achieve the best results within the work environment.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD emphasized the importance of training, capacity building, and investing in people.
Sherifa pointed out the importance of the project management training program, the main benefit of which is the efficiency and effectiveness of government institutions.
Meanwhile, Dr. Khaled Zakaria said that the project management training project includes two programs, a basic program that has already been completed, and the other is preparation program for the International Project Management License, which includes the best elements that have passed the first stage.
Imad Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brisk, referred to the good results of the trainees and the development they reached after the first phase of the program.
Aziz stressed that the government sector in Egypt is full of good elements, so the ultimate goal was to find the best standard practices to work on within the administrative apparatus.
Omar Abdullah, Deputy Director of the Economic Governance Project, said that cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and the Governance Institute continues over long periods.
He further referred to the training program on project management as one of the main activities in which cooperation takes place between the two parties.
Abdullah explained that the response of the trainees during the program exceeded expectations, as the idea of project management is important in the government apparatus, which reflects positively on all state projects.
