Assistant Minister of Planning,IFAD Regional Director meet to promote cooperation

Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives met recently with Dina Saleh, Regional Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to discuss ways of cooperation regarding the activities of Cop28.
During the meeting, they discussed mechanisms to enhance ways of cooperation during the activities of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) that will take place in Dubai at the end of this November.
Moreover, Ambassador Hisham Badr reviewed the development witnessed by the second session of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in the evaluation process.
He also highlighted the efforts to qualify trainers, and provide support to owners of projects participating in the initiative.
Such projects have contributed to make the initiative a real platform for climate action nationwide,according to Badr.
He further stressed the initiative's ongoing support for project owners, referring to the honors received by the owners of the winning projects in the first round at the international level.
Badr said that National Initiative for Smart Green Projects was able to achieve decentralization by involving various governorates, in cooperation with various bodies, universities, civil society, and the private sector.
This initiative contributed effectively in spreading awareness of the dangers of climate change and the necessity of finding real solutions to address or adapt to it.
For her part, Dina Saleh expressed her aspiration for cooperation in the next stages of the initiative, most notably COP 28, in addition to providing support to the initiative and its winning projects.
She emphasized consistency of the initiative’s objectives with IFAD’s principles regarding supporting youth innovation, through economic empowerment programs.
