Main / Media / News / Planning Ministry delegation checks "Decent Life" projects in Asyut's Sahel Salim town

10 June 2021

A delegation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development conducted an inspection tour of the completed and ongoing projects in the villages of Sahel Selim Center in Assiut Governorate, within the national project for the development of Egyptian rural villages: "A Decent Life", to activate field follow-up.

The tour also aims to ascertain the rates of completion and quality of implementation according to the specified specifications and to ensure that the completed projects are operated and entered into service, and citizens benefit from them directly, as well as holding dialogue sessions with citizens, to get acquainted with their vision on any other required priority projects.
This came on the sidelines of the Ministry of Planning delegation's visit with representatives of the Central Bank of Egypt to the Asyut Governorate to implement the "financial inclusion" strategy in the villages of the Good Life Initiative.

The visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development included development projects and interventions in the villages of Sheikh Shehata, Al-Afadra, and Tasa, which serve about 32,000 citizens. The cost of the completed and ongoing interventions is about EGP 145.3 million in the three villages.

The ministry delegation also visited a project to replace and renew drinking water networks and decent housing in the village of Al-Afadra, the family medicine center in the village of Tasa, and a sewage lift station in the villages of Sheikh Shehata and Al-Afadra, with a completion rate of 20%, and the completion rate of regression networks and expulsion lines 60%.

Follow-up data issued by the electronic system of the “Decent Life” initiative indicate that 908 interventions have been implemented in Assiut Governorate, at a total cost of EGP 2.2 billion, which resulted in the establishment and development of 21 health units, the construction, expansion, and replacement of 1,180 new chapters, and the paving and development of roads with a length of 98 km, extending and strengthening drinking water networks with a length of 40.5 km, and the implementation of 68 interventions in the Sahel Saleem Center, for EGP 151 million, in 15 villages.
