Egypt’s Planning Minister, Qatari Minister of International Cooperation meet to discuss enhancing cooperation

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met on Tuesday with Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah Al-Khater and her accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of cooperation.
During the meeting, El-Said presented the Ministry’s work files, explaining that the Ministry is responsible for Egypt Vision 2030which is the national version of the sustainable development agenda.
She said that the ministry is working hourly to update Egypt Vision 2030 to cope with global changes, UN SDGs, and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
This update is being carried out with the participation of the government, the private sector, civil society, academics, and youth.
El-Said referred to the latest update of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which was recently made available on the Ministry’s official website. She also stressed that the Ministry is responsible for preparing short-, medium-, and long-term plans.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development shed light on the entities affiliated with the Ministry, referring to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS), the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry.
El-Said asserted that NIGSD is responsible for launching several initiatives such as the “Be an Ambassador” initiative, which aims to spread the idea of sustainable development among young people.
NIGSD also presents the Green Minds Initiative, which aims to spread awareness and promote sustainable behavior to combat climate change among school students, according to El-Said.
El-Said also referred to the Institute of National Planning (INP), which is one of the oldest planning institutes in the Arab world.
El-Said highlighted the national initiative for smart green projects, which aims to find solutions to environmental problems and educate citizens in the governorates about climate change.
During the meeting, El-Said highlighted the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence in its various categories, which aims to create an effective, positive competitive atmosphere and consolidate the principles and values of excellence in the state’s administrative apparatus.
Moreover, El-Said highlighted the role of The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) - the investment arm of the state - which aims to achieve sustainable development and preserve the rights of future generations by exploiting and structuring these assets, noting cooperation with the (QIA) Qatar Investment Authority
For her part, the Qatari Minister of International Cooperation appreciated the ministry’s efforts, noting her aspiration for future bilateral cooperation in several files, including the part related to governance and sustainable development, in addition to investment cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Tariq Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar's Ambassador to Cairo, and from the Ministry of Planning, Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives.
The ministry’s attendees included Mr. Kamal Nasr, Assistant Minister for Technical Office Affairs, Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister for Sustainable Development Affairs, Wael Ziadeh, Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment, Ambassador Hazem Khairat, Director of the International Cooperation Office and Ms. Amira Hossam, Assistant Minister for Sustainable Development Affairs.
