09 November 2023

Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, and General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, asserted that one of the most important reasons for the success of the initiative is expanding and deepening the training as well as providing technical support to project providers, in addition to involving People of Determination in smart green projects.

The aforementioned remarks came during his speech on Thursday at the activities of the National Conference of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in its second session under the patronage of the President of the Republic, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and several ministers and governors.

Through his speech, Badr reviewed the rehabilitation and training phase of the initiative, which is considered a qualitative leap to increase awareness at the governorate level, as the training took place in several stages that included training the executive committees in the governorates at the republic level, training university students and providing online training programs.

Ambassador Hisham Badr also referred to the statistics on the response rates to the progress of the national initiative for smart green projects at the level of the governorates of the Republic.

The total number of projects submitted for the second phase reached 5,600 projects, including 746 large projects, and 1,114 medium projects, in addition to 674 small local projects, 984 startup projects, as well as 1,088 non-profit projects, and 986 women’s projects.

Badr pointed out the value of the prizes that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development will provide to the winning projects, where first place will receive a prize worth EGP 750,000, second place will receive a prize worth EGP 500,000, and third place will receive a prize worth EGP 250,000.

Ambassador Hisham Badr also reviewed the main gains of the initiative, which were transforming the climate challenge into an economic investment opportunity for project providers and citizens, involving all segments of society in the initiative, and establishing strategic partnerships with local and international bodies.

Ambassador Hisham Badr concluded his speech by thanking all the partner ministries, governorates, and local partners (Egyptian Post, Banque Misr, and Eastern Sugar Company), as well as the international partners who contributed to the initiative's success in its second session.
