The work of the National Judging Committee for the “Youth for Development” initiative began for the academic year 22/2023, which is being implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), and the Supreme Council of Universities.

Dr. Mohamed Alaa, coordinator of the initiative and head of the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, indicated that the initiative reflects the great importance that the Egyptian state attaches to listening to the opinions and ideas of young people and working to benefit from them and presenting policy papers and advanced development projects that contribute to supporting the state’s general policies.


The activities of the first day of the work of the National Judging Committee for the “Youth for Development” initiative for the academic year 22/2023 witnessed the judging of the policy papers track, where 11 policy papers submitted by Egyptian universities were reviewed in the various pillars of the initiative.





  Cairo University presented a paper titled “Bridging the Gap Between Government Supply of E-services and Societal Demand for Them,” while Suez Canal University presented a paper entitled “Economic Exploitation of Unexploited Housing Units.”






In the Egyptian family development pillar, two policy papers were presented from Assiut University on the dangers of cyberspace, in addition to a paper from Galala University to solve the problem of fines in Egypt.


In the health pillar, two papers were presented, the first from Kafr El-Sheikh University on “Reducing the Migration of Doctors Outside Egypt,” and the second from Helwan University entitled “Reforming the Health Care System,” in addition to four policy papers in the education pillar presented by Alexandria University entitled “A Training Program.”  To develop the future skills of teachers.


  Moreover, Port Said University presented two papers, the first to empower students with disabilities in colleges of education, and the second on “Mechanisms for Establishing a Virtual Educational System for Egyptians Abroad,” while Mansoura University presented a policy paper entitled “Utilizing Artificial Intelligence Technologies in the Education System for People with Disabilities.”


The activities of the second day of the work of the National Judging Committee for the “Youth for Development” initiative for the academic year 22/2023 also witnessed the judging of the track of development projects, where several 10 development projects submitted by Egyptian universities were reviewed in the various pillar of the initiative, including a project in the health pillar presented by the British University in Egypt.


  Seven development projects were also reviewed in the environment pillar, presented by the universities of Alexandria, Beni Suef, Cairo, and the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology, in addition to a project submitted by Port Said University in the pillar of women’s empowerment, in addition to a project submitted by Kafr El-Sheikh University in the education pillar.
