Egypt’s Planning Minister, KDI delegation meet to discuss improving the business environment in cooperation with the Irada Initiative and EBRD

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met with a delegation from the Korea Development Institute to discuss improving the business environment in cooperation with Irada and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Following the meeting, the Ministry, represented by the Egyptian Initiative for Reforming the Business Climate “Irada”, in cooperation with (EBRD) and (KDI), held an event to present the report “Improving the Business Environment for Start-ups in Egypt.”
In his speech, Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, welcomed the Korean delegation participating in the event and thanked the European Bank for its reconstruction efforts.
He further stressed the Egyptian state’s interest in issues of emerging companies.
Badr pointed to the national initiative for smart green projects, which is being implemented for the first time as the state allows 110 million Egyptians to submit smart green projects.
For her part, Dr. Heba Shaheen, Executive Director of the “Irada” initiative, stressed the importance of communicating with every institution related to startups, as there are startups in Egypt spread across many institutions.
Shaheen pointed out that the ministers are interested in communicating with emerging companies within institutions, universities, business incubators, and much more.
Shaheen explained that Egypt's startup policy represents a critical analysis of the current state of policies in Egypt, noting that today's event will present an overview of what is happening and the Korean experience, and an in-depth exploration of South Korea's journey, which began in the 1970s.
