Planning Ministry delegation tours both Gharbia & Menoufia to review standards of the “Green Village” initiative

A delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development kept its field tours in the governorates to monitor the availability of the standards of the “Green Village” initiative.
The tour aims to qualify the villages of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Rural Development “A Decent Life” to obtain the “Tarsheed” certificate for green communities.
The delegation tour included a visit to the Nahtay village in the Zefta town in Gharbia Governorate, and the village of Sahel Al-Jawaber in the Al-Shuhadaa town and Shamma in the Ashmoun town in Menoufia Governorate.
The aforementioned tour operators included the participation of representatives of the “E-Consult” engineering and environmental consulting company.
Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Plan Follow-up Affairs, stated that the total number of “Decent Life” projects in the villages of the Zefta town amounts to 785 development projects.
The projects include expanding the availability of health services and improving drinking water services, through the implementation of 3 treatment plants, 43 sanitation projects, and the establishment and development of 25 drinking water stations.
The projects also include the establishment of 30 youth sports training entities, 83 schools, 25 health units, and 8 ambulance points.
Helmy added that the “Decent Life” initiative in the Al-Shuhadaa and Ashmoun towns in Menoufia Governorate includes more than 1,400 development projects.
Helmy pointed out that 7 sewage treatment plants, 47 drinking water plants, 49 health units and ambulance points, 43 youth sports training entities ,97 schools, and 28 government and agricultural services complexes are being implemented in the villages of the Ashmoun town.
Helmy pointed out that in the villages of the Al-Shoda’aa, 3 sewage treatment plants, 23 drinking water plants, 21 youth sports training entities as well as 27 health units, an ambulance point, and 40 schools are being implemented.
Helmy also confirmed that 12 government and agricultural services complexes are also being established, in addition to connecting the fiber optic and natural gas network.
Similarly, Dr. Tariq Rahmi, Governor of Gharbia, received the Ministry’s delegation, in the presence of Najwa Al-Ashiri, Secretary-General of the Governorate.
The meeting discussed the importance of the “Green Village” initiative and the implementation steps for the nominated villages to obtain the “Tarsheed” certificate.
To follow up on the “Green Village” standards, the Ministry’s delegation visited one of the biogas projects in the village, which produces about 4 butane cylinders per month, and aims to spread it to neighboring villages. Then it (The Delegation) moved to the project to expand the drinking water station with an additional capacity of more than 2,000 m3/day.
At the beginning of its visit to Menoufia Governorate, the Ministry of Planning delegation met with Major General Ibrahim Abu Laymoun, Governor of Menoufia, and stressed the governorate’s interest in participating in the “Green Village” initiative.
The delegation of the Ministry of Planning was keen to hold consultative meetings with the people of the villages nominated for the “Green Village” initiative, to learn their opinions about the new services provided by the “Decent Life” initiative.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry’s delegation included Ahmed Al-Shimi, Ahmed Reda, Omar Metwally, coordinators of the “Decent Life” initiative at the Ministry of Planning, and from the “E-Consult” company, Engineer Ahmed Al-Sharif.
