The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects announces the winning projects in 2nd round in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects announced today the winning projects in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia governorates in the second round of the initiative.
During the honoring ceremony, Ambassador Hisham Badr stressed that the success of the second cycle of the initiative comes as a harvest of the fruits of the efforts made throughout the stages of the second cycle in which the initiative’s work team participated in cooperation with the concerned authorities and executive committees in the governorates.
Badr referred to the group of training courses and programs, seminars and workshops, and technical and technical support provided by the initiative at all stages until reaching Egyptian solutions from within the governorates to environmental and climate change problems.
Badr explained that the initiative is networking the projects participating in the initiative with donors and local and international financing institutions through the initiative’s database and the geographical map that includes all participating projects in the various governorates.
The Assistant Minister of Planning for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives and the general coordinator of the initiative also confirmed that one of the most important gains of the initiative is developing the capabilities of cadres in the governorates, and working to localize sustainable development goals in each governorate.
Ambassador Hisham Badr appreciated the role of the ministries and partner agencies in the initiative, especially the role of the Ministry of Local Development and Governorates in solving challenges assisting with all projects submitted by the initiative, and ensuring the largest number of introductory seminars on everything related to the initiative and its progress.
Badr expressed his happiness with the quality of the projects participating in the second round of the initiative, which reflects awareness of the magnitude of climate change problems so that these projects become partners in finding solutions to these changes.
In conclusion, Ambassador Hisham Badr explained that with the completion of the announcement of the winning projects in all governorates, the final evaluation stage for those projects begins.
He further stressed that the standards of transparency and governance in evaluation will be followed, in preparation for presenting the projects to the National Committee for the Initiative headed by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt.
The committee will select the three winning projects in each category, bringing the total to 18 projects, which are scheduled to participate in the COP28 Climate Change Conference held in Dubai next November.
For his part, Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, referred to the efforts made by the governorate to provide full support for advanced projects.
He stressed the importance of benefiting from the outputs of these projects to contribute to confronting the risks of climate change by Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Major General Khaled Abdel-Al, Governor of Cairo, also stressed that the sustainability of the initiative and the success of its second session are evidence of the political leadership’s keenness to place the environmental dimension at the heart of the process of achieving economic development and reducing poverty rates.
Meanwhile, Major General Abdul Hamid Al-Hagan, Governor of Qalyubia, explained that the initiative is an opportunity to present ideas and initiatives capable of addressing the challenges of climate change and preserving the rights of future generations by working in various fields, including sustainable agriculture, recycling, and clean energy.
It is noteworthy that today 18 projects were honored in Cairo Governorate, 14 projects in Giza Governorate, and 14 projects in Giza Governorate.
