 The Ministry of Planning and Economy has familiarized itself with the main features of the development programs of the governorates of North and South Sinai in the sustainable development plan for the current fiscal year 23/2024 in connection with the celebrations of the 1973 October victory.

 

 H.E. The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said, asserted that the development plan pays special attention to regional policies and programs aimed at achieving the harmonization of living standards and income levels between various regions and counties.

 

 

 El-Said announced that the total investment of the State Plan 23/2024 for the development of North Sinai Governorate is about EGP 6.5 billion, of which the state’s treasury finances about 44.6% (EGP 2.9 billion). 

 

 

 Other services account for the largest share of total public investment in North Sinai Governorate (approximately 55%), followed by the construction sector at 10.5% and the agriculture and land improvement sector at 6.4%. followed by real estate transactions and educational services with interest rates of 5.7 percent and 5.3 percent. 

El-Said explained that government investments targeted by the 23/2024 South Sinai Governorate Development Plan total about EGP 5.1 billion, of which 47% (EGP 2.4 billion) is financed by the Treasury. 

 

 

 

 

 The largest part of total investment is in the education sector, approximately 28.1%, followed by the share of other service sectors (23.1%) and then the water, transport, and storage sectors, 15.4% and 10.4 %, respectively.  

 

 

 The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development named the main development programs to be implemented in North Sinai Governorate in the year of implementation of the plan, including in the fields of agriculture and land ownership activities. 

The report noted the completion of the establishment of an agricultural cluster in North Sinai Governorate in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Development Fund and the establishment of a public irrigation network for supply. 

 

 In the field of other services, several projects are planned to be implemented, including the construction of service and administrative buildings to create a suitable working environment, raise mental, health, and social levels to support family ties, and update and renovate existing mosques. 


  The plan also wanted to establish youth centers in the region of the governorate, develop youth services, and complete the improvement and development of Al-Arish roads on Al-Fateh Street, 18 km long and 25 meters wide.

 

 

 

 

 As for provincial water projects, the plan aims to renovate and refurbish potable water network stations in provincial centers and expand potable water distribution services to poorer areas.  In the field of education, the plan aims to complete the Bir al-Abdi Industrial Technical Institute, paint murals in technical schools in North Sinai, replace dilapidated buildings to protect lives and property, equip general education schools, restore technical schools, and improve education. departments  

 Regarding the main development programs to be implemented in South Sinai Governorate during the plan year, the report pointed out that they include many projects, including (15) the decision to create an agricultural cluster in cooperation with the Kuwait Development Fund.

 

 In the field of education, the report explained that the plan aims to establish Salman bin Abdulaziz University in South Sinai, restore and equip general and technical schools in the governorate, complete the establishment of Salman bin Abdulaziz University to improve the educational process of the university.
