Ministry of Planning, NIGSD continue its activities on 2nd of the initiative "Be an Ambassador" dedicated to the officials of the Ministry

 The activities of the second day of the workshop of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative for sustainable development dedicated to planning officials, entitled “Greening Public Investments,” which is conducted in cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), witnessed the review of four sessions on several topics.

 

 

 Dr. Jamil Helmy, deputy minister of planning in the field of sustainable development plan monitoring, emphasized the importance of coordination with ministries in approving green building regulations for government buildings, whose construction was financed from the state investment plan. 

 

 On the second day of the seminar, Ambassador Hisham Badr, Deputy Minister of Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Planning Initiatives, and Program Manager of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, conducted a session. He reviewed the implementation models of smart green projects that won the initiative in its first session at the provincial level. 

 

 As part of the second day's sessions, there was also a session by engineer Sherif Abdel Rahim, head of the Climate Change Center of the Ministry of Environment, where he discussed the climate change strategy and its main and secondary goals. 

He also reviewed the organizational structure of controlling climate change, starting with the National Council on Climate Change led by the prime minister and the composition of seven ministers, as well as the difference between the two main concepts - mitigation and adaptation - and financial priorities. green investments. 

 

 

 Dr. Mohamed Motamed, Deputy Minister of Environment for Planning, Investments, and Institutional Cooperation, looked at the planning and measurement of environmental protection indicators, focusing on the main sectors that produce the most emissions.  

 

 Dr. Hind Farouh, Professor of Environment and Sustainable Urban Development and Director of the Interior and Housing Institute of the National Center for Housing and Construction Research, also looked at the definition of building codes and green proposal brochures by looking at the models implemented in the projects. who implemented green codes. 

  Farouh emphasized the role of green construction in reducing solid waste by 70%, water consumption by 40%, carbon dioxide emissions by 33-39%, and energy consumption by 24-50%.
