Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - received a delegation from the State of Namibia, headed by Ambassador Lenikela J. Mbuti, Executive Director of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), and a delegation from the State of Sierra Leone headed by Mr. Amara Kallon, Minister of Public Administration and Affairs political, to discuss ways to enhance future cooperation.



  The meeting was held in light of the results of the two-day annual meeting of APRM, the national development planning community, held in Cairo on September 10 and 11. African Agenda 2063): We want Africa and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

 The meeting was attended by Ambassador Ashraf Rashed, President of the National Committee of the African Peer Review Mechanism in Egypt, and Sarah Hamouda, Development Agenda 2063 Officer, Secretary General of the African Peer Review Mechanism.

 In the meeting, Dr. Sherifa Sherif referred to NIGSD's initiatives, including the sustainable development initiative "Be an Ambassador" launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Planning in collaboration with the institute, which aims to increase and develop capacity in the field of sustainable development. and focus on developing the concept of modern environmental thinking and fair sustainable development. 

 

 Sherif referred to the "Green Minds" initiative, which aims to spread awareness and promote sustainable behavior to combat climate change among schoolchildren and students aged 6-18, and the "Salah, Omnia and the Development Goals" initiative, which aims to simplify the concept of sustainable development, its goals and highlights its importance and ways to achieve it attractively and interestingly. 

 

 Sharif highlighted the NIGSD's willingness to forge partnerships with think tanks, think tanks, and national, regional, and international education and training institutions and to consult on public and private management practices. He noted that NIGSD has organized many different training programs to spread the culture, values , and practices of sustainable development and activate governance mechanisms. 

 The doctor for his part confirmed. Asmaa Ezzat, Director of the Center for Governance of the Institute, said that improving Egypt's performance on global, regional, and local governance indicators is one of the main priorities of the work of the NIGSD, and to this end. The NIGSD is a body that monitors Egypt's performance on these indicators, tasked with making recommendations to policymakers to improve Egypt's performance on these indicators, noting that the institute publishes three annual reports on Egypt's dominant indicators.  

 

 The 2023 report contains 20 indicators published by 15 global and regional institutions, as these indicators describe Egypt's performance in various jurisdictions in 2022 or the latest year available.
