NIGSD, EFG Hermes Foundation for Social Development discuss aspects of future bilateral cooperation

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - received Hanaa Helmy, CEO of the EFG Hermes Foundation and Head of CSR at EFG Hermes Holding to discuss aspects of future bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Sherifa Sherif gave an overview of the role and functions of NIGSD and the partnerships the institute has entered into with important centers and universities locally and internationally to provide training programs at the highest level and its role. provider of consultants, research, and training programs.
Sherif referred to initiatives launched by the institute, including the "Be an Ambassador" sustainability initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning in collaboration with the institute in 2020.
The aforementioned initiative aims to create and develop capacity in the field of sustainable development and focus on the development of modern environmental thinking and the concept of fair and comprehensive sustainable development.
Sherif referred to the "Green Thoughts" initiative, which aims to spread awareness and promote sustainable behavior to combat climate change among school children and students aged 6-18, and the "Salah, Omnia and Development Goals" initiative, which aims to simplify the concept on sustainable development.
Regarding the Egyptian Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Sherif explained that the center aims to empower young Egyptians to become entrepreneurs and create an entrepreneurial mindset that can generate innovative ideas that help achieve the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, which intersects with the UN SDGs.
The center also aims to achieve coordination and support between actors in the Egyptian business environment in a way that improves the services needed by entrepreneurs and encourages emerging companies to start their businesses.
However, Hanaa Helmy expressed gratitude for the efforts of NIGSD and hopes to join forces through fruitful cooperation in sustainable development and local community development to fight climate change, empower women to activate the circular economy through various technical means, and increase financial inclusion for a sustainable green future.
