Planning Ministry delegation visits Beheira Governorate to follow up on the “Green Village” initiative.

A delegation from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development made a field visit to Beheira Governorate, to follow up on the implementation of the “Green Village” initiative.
The aforementioned field tour came within the national project to develop the Egyptian countryside, “A Decent Life”, to rehabilitate the villages of the presidential initiative to comply with international environmental standards, in cooperation with the “E-Consult” company.
Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Plan Follow-up Affairs, said that the work team continues its field visits to the villages nominated to obtain the green community (Tarsheed) “Rationalization” certificate, as it visited 5 governorates during the last period (New Valley, Sohag, Damietta, Fayoum, and Sharqia).
Helmy indicated that it is targeted to rehabilitate 19 villages within the first phase of the “Green Village” initiative, praising the continued cooperation and coordination with the deputy governors and secretaries of all governorates in this regard.
Helmy added that the total “Decent Life” projects in the Damanhour Center amount to 660 development projects, benefiting 61 villages, to improve the quality of life in the center’s villages.
He further noted that the sanitation and drinking water sector includes covering all villages with sewage and implementing 4 sewage treatment stations, 56 projects to extend and strengthen water networks, and developing a water station, to provide clean drinking water to the villages of the center.
Dr. Nihal Balbaa, Deputy Governor of Beheira, received the ministry’s delegation, in the presence of Karima Al Salamouni, coordinator of the “Decent Life” initiative in the governorate.
The meeting discussed the importance of the “Green Village” initiative, applying environmental sustainability and spreading this culture among citizens, in light of the state’s directions to integrate the environmental dimension into plans. And national projects, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
She stressed the governorate’s readiness to fully cooperate and coordinate with the Ministry of Planning to rehabilitate the “Al-Abaadiya” village in the center of Damanhour, to obtain a “Tarsheed” certificate.
The Ministry delegation also reviewed the criteria required to qualify villages to obtain a “Tarsheed” certificate related to the water pillar, and the importance of educating citizens about conserving water and rationalizing its consumption, during its meeting with Engineer Muhammad Saeed Nashaat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Beheira Drinking Water and Sanitation Company.
Within the framework of the Ministry of Planning’s keenness to hold consultative sessions with the people, to get to know their opinions on the projects implemented and being implemented within the “Decent Life” initiative and any proposals or initiatives of importance from their point of view, the Ministry’s delegation met with a number of the people, who expressed their happiness with the “Decent Life” initiative where they stressed that it is a dream come true on the ground.
