During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said emphasized the focus on priority sectors and the structural economic and social reform program, in addition to giving priority to the localization of projects and directing financial allocations to the governorates most in need according to the development gaps within the framework of the initiatives and programs proposed.
At the forefront is the Decent Life Initiative to develop the Egyptian countryside, giving priority to the public projects currently being implemented and targeted for completion within the year of the plan or those being completed with an implementation rate of 70% or more while postponing the inclusion of any new projects unless necessary.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali referred to the role of the integrated electronic system for preparing and following up the investment plan in distributing investments to various parties, following up on projects, and the importance of modern planning methods that are used in the subject of planning and follow-up.
He explained that all parties at the state level submit proposals for their development plans through the system.
The system also includes a special section for additional appropriations for projects.
Dr. Mohamed Saqr reviewed the objectives of the medium-term sustainable development plan 22/2023-25/2026, the development of expected inflation rates during the years of the plan, as well as the development of the volume of public investments during the plan, explaining that the medium-term plan is based on a set of foundations.
Some of them were compatible with what had previously been stated within the framework of the previous medium-term plan (18/2019 - 21/2022), and others came in response to the global and regional developments that the Egyptian economy is currently experiencing and their implications for the prospects for economic growth in the near and medium term.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Maghrabi highlighted the human development goals of the economic and social development plan for the current year, as the plan included the components of the human development system when dealing with the dimensions of economic and social sectoral development, and the dimensions of local and spatial development.
Maghrabi pointed out the improvement in Egypt’s performance in human development indicators during the year 2021/2022, especially education and health indicators.
Dr. Heba Mogheib stressed the importance of following up on the projects included in the investment plan on the ground, identifying obstacles to implementation, and providing the necessary solutions to contribute to improving the lives of citizens through implementing various projects within their governorates.
