IGCF 2023 honors Mohammad El-Okby, the Official Spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Planning

Main / Media / News / IGCF 2023 honors Mohammad El-Okby, the Official Spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Planning

13 September 2023

Dr. Mohammad El-Okby, the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, recently attended the 12th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2023) in Sharjah to explore the role of the official use of social media in dealing with media crises.

In a session at the Researchers platform, part of the research group of the International Governmental Communication Forum, El-Okby looked at the main features of Egypt's social media presence, where the number of Egyptian accounts has risen to about 180 million

He further noted that all platforms are owned by about 50 million Egyptian citizens.

The results of the study showed that the accounts of state institutions on social media platforms have increased in the management of media crises and are more suitable for the management of emergent crises.

The results also showed that Facebook and Twitter are most used by different ministries for solving crises.

Correspondingly, the results also showed the need to integrate messages published by public authorities through traditional means and social media.

The forum also honored Dr. Mohammad El-Okby for his research among key forum participants, including media icons and researchers from more than 10 countries around the world.
