5,700 projects applied for the second round: Says National Initiative for Smart Green Projects General Co.
13 September 2023
Ambassador Hisham Badr, National Initiative for Smart Green Projects General Co. noted that about 5,700 projects have progressed in the second round of the initiative, including about 1,000 projects in each of the six pillars of the initiative.
Badr explained that Egyptian and international residents will evaluate projects in all governorates based on the degree to which projects meet the criteria of the initiative, which include energy saving, use of technology, extent of social impact, and others.
Badr pointed out that the initiative comes under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as it was launched within the framework of Egypt’s hosting of Cop27 in Sharm El-Sheikh last year so that the average Egyptian citizen can feel the difference about smart green projects.
Badr added that it is an unprecedented initiative globally, as it enables all citizens to submit their various environmental projects, explaining that a green project uses renewable energy and contributes to reducing emissions and recycling waste.
Badr said that the idea of the initiative is to make a profit for project owners to achieve sustainability.
Badr also pointed out that from 6 to 18 projects will be selected for each governorate, to be presented to the National Committee for the Initiative, and then the projects will be evaluated by the United Nations, the World Bank, and the European Bank.
