Egypt’s Deputy planning minister meets his Saudi counterpart to discuss mutual cooperation

Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, received a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Mr. Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Obaid, Assistant Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways of joint cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Kamali stressed the close cooperation between the two ministries, the great convergence between the vision and mission of the two sides, and the depth of Egyptian-Saudi relations.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali reviewed the work files and competencies of the Ministry of Planning.
He further noted that the Ministry is responsible for Egypt’s Vision 2030 in cooperation and coordination with the government, the private sector, civil society, and relevant parties.
Kamali said that Egypt's Vision 2030 is the governing framework for planning and sustainable development.
He added that the Ministry is also concerned with preparing sustainable development and annual plans.
Kamali said that the ministry is responsible for diversifying funding sources with the aim of reaching the desired strategic goals.
Dr. Ahmed Kamali explained that the Ministry of Planning is responsible for the integrated E-system for preparing and following up the investment plan, which has become fully automated and is relied upon in all planning processes with their amendments and follow-up.
Kamali referred to the Egyptian economic and structural reform program, which is carried out in cooperation with all state agencies.
He also explained that the ministry is responsible for improving the structure of the economy and setting economic goals for the Egyptian state.
Kamali pointed to The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) whose board of directors is chaired by the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and which aims to optimally exploit the state’s assets.
He also referred to the affiliated bodies and their specializations, such as the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS) the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) and the Institute of National Planning(INP).
The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development said that there is close economic cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, referring to data on Saudi trade exchange and investments in Egypt, where the volume of Saudi investments in Egypt reached about $ 32 billion .
Kamali added that he looks forward to further increasing participation and cooperation in the areas of trade and investment between the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Obaid, Assistant Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Planning for holding this meeting.
Al-Obaid stressed the depth of the historical and strategic relations between the two countries.
Moreover, the Saudi delegation expressed its interest in learning about Egypt’s Vision 2030 and how to implement the vision’s goals, as well as learning how to prepare plans within the framework of the country’s strategic directions.
