NIGSD, Zewail University discuss aspects of future bilateral cooperation

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD)- the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, received Dr. Mustafa Musa Badawi, Director of the Science and Technology Valley and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Zewail City of Science and Technology, to discuss aspects of future bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD indicated that aspects of future cooperation between NIGSD and Zewail University of Science and Technology will include cooperation in implementing the "Be an Ambassador" initiative for sustainable development, which was launched by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the Institute in 2020, with the aim of building and developing capacities in the field of sustainable development.

Sherif added that the cooperation will also take place within the framework of the "Green Minds" initiative, which aims to spread awareness and promote sustainable behavior to combat climate change among children and students in schools, for the age group from 6 to 18 years, and includes children and students in the primary, preparatory and secondary stages.

Sherif explained that cooperation between NIGSD and the university will also take place through the activities of the Egypt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation affiliated with NISGD, which represents an integrated center to support entrepreneurship, innovation, and distinguished practices for sustainable and innovative entrepreneurship in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.

For her part, Dr. Heba Zaki, Director of the Egypt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, indicated that the center seeks to empower Egyptian youth as entrepreneurs and create an entrepreneurial mindset that can generate innovative ideas that help achieve the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, which intersect with the UN SDGs (Goals for Sustainable Development).

Egypt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation also aims to achieve coordination and support among the actors in the entrepreneurship environment in Egypt in a way that improves the services needed for entrepreneurs and encourages startups to start their businesses.
