The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued the tenth issue of the report "Following up the citizen in the governorates" during the years (18/2019 - 19/2020) for Menoufia Governorate, which includes an inventory of projects that were fully completed during the same period and linking them to the sustainable development goals.

Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that 433 development projects have been completed, with a total investment cost of EGP 3.8 billion, in 6 sectors: education, housing, transportation, irrigation, electricity, and local development.
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated the completion of the implementation of 3 projects in the water resources and irrigation sector, at EGP 21.6 million, including the replacement and renewal of the covered drainage networks for the third Birkat El-Sabaa area, the development of irrigation networks on the Atef Canal (Phase 4), and the replacement and renewal of covered drainage networks In the area (Zanarat II B).The report continued that 65 projects were completed in the pre-university education sector, for EGP 438 million, which resulted in the establishment, replacement, and expansion of 986 classrooms at all educational levels, within the framework of achieving the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Ensuring quality education that is equitable and includes for all and enhance lifelong learning opportunities for all.”


The comprehensive survey of the characteristics of the local community, issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS), indicates an increase in the percentage of villages that have a government primary and preparatory school from 82.9% in 2015 to 97.2% in 2020.


Within the framework of achieving the sixth goal: “Ensuring the availability of drinking water and sanitation for all and its sustainable management”, 39 projects have been completed in the drinking water and sanitation sector, for EGP 2.6 billion, including the Bagour water plant (capacity of 43 000 m3/day) Al-Hamool water plant (capacity 51 000 m3/day), expansions of Shebin El-Kom sewage treatment plant (capacity 30,000 m3/day), Danasour village treatment plant in Al-Shuhada Center (10 000 m3/day), and sewage treatment plant in Mansha’at Sultan village in Markaz Menouf (energy 12 000 m3/day).


Concerning the progress made in achieving the seventh goal: “ensuring universal access to modern, regular and sustainable energy services at an affordable cost”, the implementation of 9 projects in the electricity and renewable energy sector has been completed, for EGP 49.2 million, including the construction of a transformer station for the distinguished district in Sadat City (capacity 535 MVA), and the Sadat/Wadi El-Natrun Industrial City line, with a length of 73.5 km, and the expansion of the Bajaur transformer station (an added capacity of 40 MVA).

Moreover, 78 projects were completed within the local development programs (electricity and lighting), at EGP 30 million, which resulted in the installation of 1,362 lighting poles, the supply of 6 electric cars (towers), the lighting of the two farms of Al-Qarbaniya and Hosh Issa in the Birkat Al-Sabaa Center, and the installation of new cables with a length of 1 km, providing more than 20 000 energy-saving bulbs (LED).
The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that concerning the ninth goal of the sustainable development goals: “Building resilient infrastructure, stimulating inclusive sustainable industrialization, and encouraging innovation,” the development of the Kafr al-Battanon crossings in the Shebin al-Koum Center, and the development of the Shattanouf village train station, have been completed.

Moreover, 60 projects were completed within the local development programs (paving roads, bridges, and tunnels), at EGP 98 million, which resulted in the paving and development of roads and internal streets with a length of 72.5 km, and the construction and development of 12 bridges, as well as the development of the Birkat Al-Sabaa Tunnel.
