NIGSD continues the pre-incubation program in sustainable fashion

 NIGSD (National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development), the training department of the Ministry of Planning and Economy pursued the activities of the pre-incubation program in the field of sustainable clothing, which is carried out at the Egyptian Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and will last for 13 weeks from August 6 to October 29, 2023. 

  Dr. Sherif Sherif, Director General of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, explained that the Sustainable Ready to Carry Pre-Incubation Program is a comprehensive training program that aims to provide participants with specific knowledge and guidance in the field of sustainable ready to wear - clothing fashion 

 

 

 

 Sherif added that the program will be presented as an intensive and interactive boot camp covering various topics such as the history of fashion and the ready-to-wear industry in general, the ecosystem of the ready-to-wear industry, branding, manufacturing, costing, and pricing, public relations and retail, the basics of entrepreneurship in sustainable retail and raising awareness of the basics of sustainable testing. 

 

 

  Dr. Heba Zaki, Director of the Egyptian Service Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, noted that this program was carefully selected and designed to achieve two main goals. The first is to encourage young people interested in the fashion industry to develop business models for new innovative projects in the field. Another goal is to integrate the idea of sustainable development into the ideas of these projects because the clothing industry is one of the industries with the largest carbon footprint, and therefore it was important to pay attention to the development of this sector by supporting it with innovative and sustainable ideas.  

 

 Zaki added that more than 300 candidates applied for the program, of which 33 were selected. By the end of the 13-week program, each participant will be able to develop a business model integrated with a sustainable fashion industry project, from product to distribution and production process.
