The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development publishes a report analyzing Egypt's performance in the 2023 Sustainable Development Report

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development, the training arm of the ministry, issued a report analyzing Egypt's performance in the "Sustainable Development Report 2023" issued by the "Sustainable Development Solutions Network" in cooperation with University College Dublin (UCD).
The report prepared last June is to look at the achievement of sustainable development goals in light of global development.
H.E. The Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said, announced that according to the Sustainable Development Report 2023, Egypt's overall score was 69.6.
This value is higher than the average for countries in the Middle East and North Africa region mentioned in the same report, which was 67.1 points.
El-Said added that after analyzing Egypt's performance against the sub-indicators of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, Egypt scored best with Goal 13: Climate Action, followed by Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
The first goal was related to the eradication of poverty and the tenth goal was related to the reduction of inequality.
El-Said stated that the Egyptian government has made many efforts to improve the level of governance in Egypt.
The government has set its main goal to improve transparency and governance to fight corruption. In this regard, and after the completion of the second phase of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (2019-2022), the Egyptian government launched the third phase of the strategy (2023-2030) to continue efforts to achieve the main goal. a society that, according to El-Said, is aware of the dangers of corruption.
The Egyptian government is also interested in digital transformation, as it plays an important role in the development and improvement of technical methods. Therefore, the government has taken many serious measures in this regard, such as the development and automation of real estate, population registration, tax collection, electronic invoicing, and the Egyptian digital portal.
Through this, the Egyptian government aims to improve the overall performance of public and private sector institutions and agencies, increase accountability and transparency, reduce opportunities for manipulation and corruption, and increase investor and citizen confidence in the economic and political system.
Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Director of NIGSD, however, emphasized the development trends to achieve the Goals of Sustainable Development, as the report stated that the three goals are related to guaranteeing quality education, clean water and hygiene, and responsible consumption.
Sherif emphasized that improving governance and transparency can accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Egypt in general, noting that good governance is one of the main pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals because it strengthens the principles of accountability, transparency, efficiency, and rules. of the law. at all levels.
Sherif added that it is necessary to emphasize the importance of continuous efforts to improve Egyptian governance, as Egypt plays an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
It also requires that these efforts be accompanied by other initiatives aimed at encouraging key partners and stakeholders to play their assigned roles in achieving sustainability.
Analyzing Egypt's performance in the national NIGSD 2023 Sustainable Development Report, the report covered several topics that were represented in Egypt's performance on the sustainability indicators included in the 2023 Sustainable Development analysis.
It also analyzed Egypt's dashboard and progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the role of governance in the efforts of the Egyptian state to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
