Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, NIGSD & USAID collaborate to launch a project management training program

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development - the training arm of the ministry - and the Economic Governance Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Brisk Business Inc, launched a project management training program for several employees of the Ministry of Planning and its affiliates.
The launch witnessed the presence of Eng. Khaled Mostafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD, Dr. Salwa Tabala, Senior Consultant on Governance at USAID, and Eng. Emad Aziz, Chairman of Brisk's Board of Directors.
The program's opening session was moderated by Dr. Khaled Zakaria, Advisor to the Minister of Planning for Public Policies and Structural Reforms. He is also Senior Consultant to the Economic Governance Project.
During the opening session of the training program, Eng. Khaled Mostafa explained that the program provides an opportunity for distinguished cadres to keep up with the latest competitive standards in project management worldwide.
Mustafa stressed that work is being done for the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to be a realistic and successful model. He also wants it implemented according to the highest standards.
Engineer Khaled Mustafa also pointed out the importance of meaningful partnerships to create a positive, effective, and sustainable environment for the work system.
Mustafa pointed out that the project management program is a practical model and an embodiment on the ground of an effective partnership between the government, the private sector, and international bodies, as this partnership provides access to the best standards and keeps up with them, and also allows development agencies to work on real and actual needs.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif said that the project management program is important for the Ministry of Planning and government workers as a whole, especially in light of the development witnessed by the state's administrative apparatus, the modernization of the work system, and the keenness to reach efficiency, effectiveness and optimal use of available resources.
Dr. Salwa Tabala praised the cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and the National Institute of Governance, explaining the importance of training for employees of the state's administrative apparatus according to a new vision for administrative reform, which allows building new cadre skills useful in community service.
Engineer Imad Aziz explained that there is a gap between daily practices and constantly evolving science in project management.
Emad drew attention to working with the Ministry, the Institute, and USAID to provide a training program that includes the basics of a project management course and a certificate preparation course, which are provided by a group of the most qualified and certified trainers.
Dr. Khaled Zakaria emphasized the importance of training and the acquisition of experience, knowledge, and skills. He also emphasized an opportunity for communication, dialogue, and discussion. He also referred to the importance of the project management program and what it provides for workers responsible for managing investment projects in the country.
Hanan Abdullah, Director of the Projects and Programs Department at the Ministry of Planning, said that it is important for trainees to apply all the programs, skills, and tools in the training program continuously and practically within their various departments so that the return is quick and effective.
