The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development runs two workshops on the sustainable development unit and the infrastructure sector in the ministry

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held two workshops on the role of the sustainable development unit and the infrastructure sector in the ministry. These workshops were part of the summer training program for university students, which the ministry held for the sixth year in a row.
The workshop witnessed the participation of Dr. Nihad Morsi, Head of the Infrastructure Sector, Heba Mohamed, Head of the Central Housing Administration, as well as the team of the Sustainable Development Unit, in the presence of 42 students representing the sixth batch of the program.
During the sustainable development workshop, the unit's work team discussed sustainable development in general and its goals. In addition, they reviewed Africa's Agenda 2063, the National Agenda, and Egypt's Vision 2030.
Moreover, they reviewed the Ministry's role in sustainable development and its follow-up to Egypt's development performance.
The unit's work team explained that sustainable development means achieving development and meeting the needs of the current generation without infringing on the rights of future generations, explaining that development is based on three social, economic, and environmental dimensions, with the need to achieve integration between the three dimensions.
The team also discussed the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in which several countries, including Egypt, agreed to commit to achieving those goals by 2030.
The team pointed out that the sustainable development agenda consists of 17 goals, including 169 emerging goals, and 231 performance indicators. They also reviewed Africa's Agenda 2063, which represents the strategic framework for the African continent to achieve economic and social transformation.
For her part, Dr. Nihad Morsi, Head of the Infrastructure Sector at the Ministry, reviewed the role of the sector in supporting the economic sectors of the state and its organizational structure, as well as the most important national and strategic projects that the sector is working on.
Professor Heba Muhammad reviewed the ministry's infrastructure sector organizational structure. She explained that it consists of the Central Administration for Trade and Industry, the Central Administration for Productive Activities and Services, and the Central Administration for Housing.
She referred to the project to develop and expand the national road network, the fast electric train network, monorail lines, the national project to rehabilitate and line canals in addition to developing slums, securing electrical nutrition for development projects and power interconnection with neighboring countries, as well as renewable energy projects, the governmental program to increase the water container, social housing projects, digital transformation and Upper Egypt development, as well as the agricultural agglomerations project in North and South Sinai.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launched the sixth session of the summer training program for university students. This was done by receiving 82 male and female students from different universities in two batches during the summer months.
