Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence continues training activities for equal opportunities, women's empowerment, and strategic planning

The Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence cooperates with the Economic Governance Project funded by USAID and the National Council for Women to run the third phase of the Excellence Ambassadors Training Program for the Award for Equal Opportunities and Women Empowerment.

The training program will focus on "Strategic Planning, Gender Equality, and Equal Opportunity".

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the launch of the Equal Opportunities and Women's Empowerment Award comes in the implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's mandate at the Egyptian Women's Celebration 2022 and in line with the national strategy for women's empowerment.

 

This award promotes a work environment in government institutions that is conducive to the success of women and people of determination. It guarantees equal access to opportunities and resources and services without discrimination for all groups.

During the opening session, Ms. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, confirmed that the training comes within the framework of the award management's keenness to spread awareness and build capacities related to standards of institutional excellence and strategic planning for the award for equal opportunities and women's empowerment.

During her speech, Soha Saeed reviewed the participation rates of various government agencies, including ministries, governorates, and universities, in the Award for Equal Opportunities and Empowerment of Women. This was its first edition in the third session of 2022, which saw 71 government agencies.

For her part, Dr. Salwa Tabala, Senior Governance Consultant at USAID, indicated that the launch of the Equal Opportunity and Women Empowerment Award is a continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and USAID since the launch of Egypt's Vision 2030 in 2016.

A student affirmed the agency's keenness to support the Egyptian state's efforts to empower women within the national strategy for empowering women in all its axes, especially the axis of strengthening the leadership role of women through providing packages of training programs in collaboration between the Economic Governance Project, the Ministry of Planning and the National Council for Women.

Tabbalah also touched on the main objectives of the economic governance project, including strengthening reforms related to economic governance, strengthening work on institutional development, improving the capabilities of workers in the state's administrative apparatus, and preparing and implementing new models for providing services to support the investment climate in Egypt, in addition to focusing on enhancing equal opportunities and social inclusion.

The training dealt with a review of international experiences in the field of equal opportunities and women's empowerment, concepts of equal opportunities and women's empowerment, the constitutional and legal framework for promoting the rights of women and people of determination, the strategic framework for promoting women's rights, and the main objectives of the national strategy for the empowerment of Egyptian women 2030.

The training activities also witnessed a session on "Women's Empowerment and Equal Opportunities in the Work Field", during which Ms. Nihad Abu Al-Qumsan, Senior Expert on Women's Empowerment and Consultant in the Economic Governance Project, addressed the issue of women's empowerment in the field of work and its impact on the general level, socially and economically, to contribute to expanding the scope of economic development and benefiting from women's cadres.
