10 July 2023

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launched the 6th batch of the 2023 summer training program for university students.

The training of the sixth took place at the ministry’s headquarters in The New Administrative Capital, under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development.

Mr. Tariq Abdel-Khalek, Advisor to the Minister for Human Resources, and several leading figures participated in the event.

El-Said explained that the ministry is responsible for setting the vision and plan for the Egyptian state, referring to the vision of Egypt 2030, which represents the future vision of the state, in which medium-term plans and annual plans are developed within the framework of the vision, where growth and unemployment rates are determined, as well as employment rates.

She also highlighted the initiatives that the ministry is working on, such as the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, as well as the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence, which aims to encourage and motivate state employees to excel, in addition to the national project for the development of the Egyptian family that works to improve the characteristics of the population while controlling population growth rates and is done in cooperation with several agencies and ministries.

El-Said referred to the ministry's agencies, including the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS), and the Institute for National Planning (INP).

During his speech, Tariq Abdel-Khaleq explained that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development was one of the first ministries to adopt the idea of summer training, bringing the number of trainees since the program was launched in 2018 until now to about 300 trainees, following that no entity in the state’s administrative apparatus has been able to achieve this number.

Abdel-Khalek affirmed the ministry’s belief that it has a message for university students, adding that the training program will include holding several training workshops that will be presented by the ministry’s leaders to review the areas of the ministry’s sectors and units, including the new ones, as well as the projects it is working on, in addition to the field visits that will be conducted.

Abdel-Khaleq reviewed the role and areas of work of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, stressing that it represents the mind of the government, as it falls within its responsibilities to the infrastructure of projects that contribute to facilitating services to citizens, referring to the mobile service vehicle project as one of those projects.

Abdel-Khalek also touched on several initiatives and projects that the ministry is working on, such as the Egypt Award for Government Excellence.

Tariq Abdel-Khaleq explained that the number of trainees for the sixth batch is 82 trainees in two sessions. The first will be in July, while the ministry will receive the second batch in August.

The human resources team talked about the summer program, explaining that it aims to prepare students for the labor market, attract young talents, and prepare future leaders, emphasizing that the program is open to all public and private universities.

The human resources management team added that the majors that participate in the program from different universities include economics, political science, media, business administration, computer, and statistics.
