The National Initiative for Green Smart Projects organizes two seminars in Aswan & Alexandria to introduce its objectives

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, in cooperation with the governorates of Aswan and Alexandria, held two introductory seminars within the framework of a group of seminars and training workshops held by the initiative in some governorates to raise awareness of its objectives, categories, and criteria for project nomination in the second round, which is currently available until the end of July 2023 through the initiative’s website www.sgg.eg.
The seminar was held in Aswan Governorate in the presence of Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, Dr. Ghada Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor, Eng. Fatima Ibrahim, General Secretary, and members of the National Initiative executive committees in the governorates of Sohag, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan. In addition, Salma Nassar, representative of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Nahed Fouad. Representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Mamdouh El-Sayed, representative of the Ministry of Environment, Thana Suleiman, and Mona Abdel-Rahim, representative of the National Council for Women (NCW).
In his speech, Major General Ashraf Attia stressed that the pillars of the national initiative came to confirm Egypt's pioneering role in the field of sustainable development, and it also gives an unprecedented opportunity to map smart green projects, link them to financing agencies, and attract the various investments needed for them from home and abroad in a way that achieves numerous positive returns in the coming period.
For her part, the representative of the Ministry of Planning explained that there is a vital and effective role for the 27 governorates nationwide, in coordination with the relevant ministries, to qualify the various projects that apply for the smart green projects initiative, which aims to develop solutions to reduce climate change.
Members of the executive committees of the National Initiative in the governorates of Alexandria, Marsa Matruh, and Beheira participated in the Alexandria Governorate symposium, Mr. Omar Baybars, coordinator of the initiative at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Mr. Reda Othman, representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Sameh Riad, representative of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Mona Taman, representative of the National Council for Women.
During the seminar, the initiative coordinator from the Ministry of Planning gave a brief overview of the initiative’s origins, its categories, conditions, and mechanisms for participation in it, its sponsors, and its various stages, stressing that the initiative works to increase environmental awareness among citizens, localize the principles and goals of sustainable development, and confront the repercussions of climate change.
Moreover, representatives of the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, the Environment, and the National Council for Women reviewed the goals and categories of the initiative, mechanisms, and criteria for evaluating projects participating in the second session, the concept and mechanisms for evaluating the green component and the smart component, and criteria for assessing projects for the women category.
