The National Initiative for Green Smart Projects organizes a symposium in South Sinai to introduce its objectives

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, in cooperation with South Sinai Governorate and the presence of participants from North Sinai Governorate, held an introductory symposium within the framework of a group of seminars and training workshops held by the initiative in several governorates to raise awareness of its objectives, categories, and criteria for project nomination in the second round, which is currently available for submission until the end of July 2023 through the initiative's website www.sgg.eg.
The symposium witnessed the presence of Major General Khaled Metwally, Advisor to the Governor of South Sinai for International Relations, Nermin Sadek, Executive Director of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, Ali Abdel Salam, Representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Tamer Hassan, Representative of the Ministry of Environment, and Noha Al-Husseini, Representative of the National Council for Women.
During the workshop, Major General Khaled Metwally, the governor's advisor for international relations, reviewed the governorate's efforts to preserve the environment and confront climate change.
Metwally drew attention to the experience of Sharm El-Sheikh in this regard as the first green city in Africa and the Middle East and the center of resilient cities on the African continent, and the best implementation model for cities in the world that seek environmental sustainability, in addition to the global organization of the COP27 climate conference.
As a result of a decision of the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic, Nermin Sadek, Executive Director of the initiative; The idea and origins of the initiative were under the auspices of the President of the Republic.
Sadek indicated that the initiative is aimed at finding ideas and solutions from local reality in the governorates. This is to solve environmental and climate change problems.
The Executive Director of the initiative also referred to the six categories of the initiative, the evaluation criteria for the submitted projects and the conditions that must be met in each project, and the stages of project evaluation starting with the electronic evaluation in which projects are sorted electronically and the extent of their conformity with the criteria is examined, then the evaluation of the executive committees in the governorates and the selection of the 6 projects in each governorate to reach 162 projects nationwide.
Next comes the stage of the National Arbitration Committee headed by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Pioneer of Al-Manakh, to select 18 projects from the 162 projects at the level of the Republic. These are the projects scheduled to participate in COP28 in the UAE.
For his part, Ali Abdel Salam, a representative of the Ministry of Communications, reviewed the technological component and the criteria for its availability in the project. He also reviewed the definition of intelligent projects and their types.
Tamer Hassan, a Ministry of Environment representative, reviewed green projects. These are environmentally friendly projects that achieve the principle of sustainable production and consumption, referring to the criteria for evaluating green projects.
Noha Al-Husseini, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women, referred to the nomination criteria for the category of projects related to women, referring to the three winning projects in that category in the first round of the initiative, which is a three-dimensional cutting design project from e-waste recycling in Alexandria Governorate, the winner of the first place, and the scrap project Bab Rizq in the Governorate of Cairo, the winner of the second place, and the Golden Hand Project in Fayoum Governorate, the winner of the third place.
The training workshop witnessed a presentation on the project that won third place in the first session. This is the project of using the radish sap in oil cracking in North Sinai Governorate in the category of medium-sized projects.
