The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development participates in a workshop discussing the draft report of the "Local Voluntary Review" for Al-Beheira Governorate

Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Affairs, participated recently in a workshop discussing the draft report of the "Local Voluntary Review" for Al-Beheira Governorate in the governorate's general office.
In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, expressed his deepest happiness to be in the Al-Beheira Governorate.
He also thanked both the Deputy Governor of Al-Beheira and the executive leaders in the governorate, in appreciation of their outstanding development efforts in Al-Beheira.
Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Sustainable Development Affairs, indicated that the Ministry of Planning when preparing the voluntary report at the national level, established a platform on which stakeholders could meet.
The platform includes all activities related, directly or indirectly, to sustainable development goals.
The platform also includes providing information on the supportive or non-supportive environment for sustainable development, adding that voluntary reports are a tool for creating dialogue on sustainable development.
Essam explained that sustainable development goals overlap and are interrelated with each other. The national version of the UN sustainable development goals is Egypt's Vision 2030. This includes a set of indicators for measuring the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
Dr. Khaled Zakaria, to Dr. Khaled Zakaria, Advisor to the Minister of Planning for Public Policies and Structural Reforms, and Director of the Center for Macroeconomic Policies at the Institute of National Planning, reviewed the draft report of the "Local Voluntary Review" for Buhaira Governorate.
Zataria explained that the report was prepared based on the data and information of the Buhaira governorate. The analysis of this data was carried out in cooperation with the governorate's economic groups.
Mr. Sylvain Merlin, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program, indicated that the Al-Beheira governorate was able, within a short period, to complete the draft of the voluntary report, explaining that a comprehensive and adequate presentation was presented on the efforts and challenges, after consultation with stakeholders from the concerned authorities.
He stressed the importance of the report in setting investment plans, achieving development, supporting decision-making, and implementing effective measures in the education and health sectors, with the participation of the private sector.
He added that launching the first integrated index of governorate competitiveness aims to study the economic and social development gaps between the governorates. This will help the state plan and manage all state resources.
During the workshop, the door for discussion and dialogue was opened to several members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. In addition, representatives of civil societies, the Environmental Affairs Agency, directors of service directorates, specialized national councils, the Chamber of Commerce, businessmen, and investors.
