Deputy Minister of Planning discusses the draft report of the "Local Voluntary Review" for Al-Beheira Governorate

Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, visited Al-Beheira Governorate and participated during the activities of the first day of the visit in the workshop held at the governorate’s general office. The workshop was to discuss the draft report of the “Local Voluntary Review” for the Al-Beheira Governorate.
During the workshop, Dr. Ahmed Kamali said that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development is trying to provide tools through which governorates can deal with their development gaps.
Kamali explained that Egypt is among one of ten countries that submitted voluntary national reports, as it submitted three voluntary reports, the last of which was in 2021.
Kamali pointed out that the voluntary reports of the governorates will be presented at the high-level forum for sustainable development next July. The participation of the Egyptian governorates in this global event confirms the Egyptian state's importance.
He explained the importance of the governorate's voluntary report presenting challenges and problems.
Kamali touched on launching the competitiveness index at the governorate level, stressing that for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East, a competitiveness index was designed at the governorate level, aiming to improve the Egyptian state's competitiveness.
Kamali added that the greatest challenge currently to achieve sustainable development, economic growth and improve the standard of living is to improve the climate for private investment. The state has pumped in very large investments in infrastructure and in the "Decent Life" initiative to enhance the climate for private investment.
The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development referred to the national project for the development of the Egyptian family and its role in the economic empowerment of women, and the importance of increasing the percentage of women's participation in the labor market and its positive impact on the country's domestic product.
