Main / Media / News / Minister of Planning Extends Deadline for ‘National Initiative for Smart Green Projects' Until End-July

21 June 2023

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning & Economic Development announced the extension of the application deadline for the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects to the end of July on the website www.sgg.eg, as a response to all governorates, to make room for all projects in the governorates to participate.

El-Said declared that the extension of the submission period came in response to many requests received by the initiative to allow more time, especially with the overlap of many occasions and holidays during the period allotted for submission, which allows various entities, institutions, private sector companies, associations, and individuals to improve the models for their projects submitted on the platform of the initiative.

El-Said indicated that the initiative had held many online training programs on various specialized topics that helped the project applicant fulfill the required parts of his/her project scientifically. This is in cooperation with a number of the initiative's partners with extensive experience in providing technical and technical support for projects.

For his part, the General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in Governorates Ambassador Hisham Badr confirmed that the governorates are an essential partner for the initiative's success and support.

He referred to the presentation of some training and awareness seminars in the nine regions of the republic’s governorates to showcase the criteria, the target groups of the initiative, and the method of applying on the E-platform, in the presence of the trainers of the Ministries of Planning, Communications, and Environment and the National Council for Women.

He also explained that to ensure sustainability, the trainers in the relevant ministries and representatives of all governorates were qualified. They have obtained a Training of Trainers (TOT) program to explain everything related to the initiative and deliver all information correctly.

Furthermore, the general coordinator of the initiative expressed the desire for the initiative to follow the Egyptian government's participatory approach, as there has been cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education to include university students around the republic to present their projects in the initiative, and then present several seminars on the initiative to 9 universities at the governorate level.

He also highlighted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is supporting the initiative through the implementation of training programs and seminars on the different features of the initiative. This is done in all youth and sports directorates in the republic.

Amb. Hisham Badr pointed out that cooperation and meetings with various parties to spread the culture of awareness of climate change led to an increase in the number of applicants for the initiative, referring to the cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development, where the Minister directed all governorates to urge and encourage citizens and provide them with technical support to present their projects under the initiative.

He also mentioned the meeting with the governors of Cairo, Giza, Damietta, and Luxor. He also mentioned the cooperation with North Sinai, Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development.

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects was launched under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi with a decree from the Prime Minister, and under the supervision of the Minister of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment, and the National Council for Women (NCW).
