NIGSD, BUC sign a cooperation protocol for developing human capacities

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) (the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development), signed a cooperation protocol with Badr University in Cairo (BUC), regarding cooperation in the fields of supporting the building and developing of human capacities, governance, sustainable development, research studies, and scientific activities.
The signed cooperation protocol will pave the way for establishing joint programs between the two sides or allowing student participation or University employees in the training programs implemented by NIGSD to achieve local and regional excellence aimed at facilitating procedures and developing rules governing dealing with state institutions, its various agencies, and the private sector.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development.
Dr. Amr El-Etreby, Vice President of Badr University in Cairo for Postgraduate Studies was present on behalf of the University.
The signing ceremony also witnessed the attendance of Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at NIGSD. And Dr. Wafaa El-Sherbiny, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Director of International Cooperation and External Relations at the University.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif said that the signing came within the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development framework.
"NIGSD is keen to support cooperation with active scientific and academic institutions, whether at the local, regional, or international level." She added
She noted that NIGSD is a local and regional center of excellence aimed at facilitating procedures and developing rules governing dealing with state institutions and its various agencies.
Moreover, Sherif emphasized the importance of the role of NIGSD in training, qualifying, and raising the knowledge and skills of workers in the state's administrative apparatus, the private sector, and civil society alike in all fields to upgrade the service system and enabling workers to manage resources efficiently and effectively and achieve sustainable development following Egypt's Vision 2030.
For his part, Dr. Amr El-Etreby said that the purpose of signing the protocol with the National Institute of Governance and Sustainable Development is to establish a distinguished partnership in the areas of administrative systems and sustainable development, as a prelude to establishing joint study programs in the disciplines of administrative sciences, governance, and sustainable development.
The Vice President of Badr University in Cairo for Postgraduate Studies, Environmental Affairs, and Community Service "BUC", indicated that among the objectives of the protocol is the preparation of academic and professional cadres, for the labor market, whether in the state’s administrative apparatus or private companies at the local or international level, opening up a field of research and new horizons for development, contributing to the state’s plan for administrative development and modern planning.
For her part, Dr. Wafaa El-Sherbiny explained that the aim of signing the protocol with the institute is Contributing to the application of good governance standards, as well as monitor and follow up on the status of "Egypt" in regional and international governance, competitiveness, and sustainable development indicators, and implementing activities: "research, statistics, opinion polls, and surveys to enhance knowledge."
