EGP 2.5 bn spent on 160 local development projects in Al-Qalyubia Governorate during FY 21/2022: Planning Minister

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a "harvest" report, entitled (Citizen’s Follow Up) which includes a tally, to sum up, the projects of the (Citizen Investment Plan) that have been fully completed in the main sectors, in Al Qalyubia Governorate, during FY (21/2022).
The aforementioned “harvest” report follows the “Programs and Performance” budget and is related to the UN SDG implementation.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stated that the report comes within the framework of following up the implementation of the “Citizen Investment Plans” issued by the ministry annually, which have been included on the United Nations platform for initiatives to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals (The UN SDG Actions Platform).
El-Said stressed the importance of activating community participation, transparency, and accountability to spread awareness among citizens of the state's achievements. She also stressed the importance of ensuring citizens' follow-up of the implemented projects in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
Moreover, Dr. Hala El-Said stated that 160 development projects were completed during the fiscal year (2021/2022) in Al Qalyubia Governorate in 6 sectors including (education, health, transportation, irrigation, housing, and local development), at a total investment cost of EGP 2.5 billion.
Similarly, Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister for Follow-up Affairs of the Sustainable Development Plan, said that 12 projects have been implemented to improve agricultural productivity and water quality. These projects replace and renew drainage networks along the Shobra-Benha Highway, and in the Qelzam region, in line with SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
Concerning SDG 3: Good health and well-being, the report indicated that the Egyptian government has constructed Al-Khanka Central Hospital which includes several departments, including outpatient clinics, physiotherapy, and dentistry.
The report reviewed the relevant UN SDGs including Goal 4: Quality education. Through this goal, the government has implemented 63 projects in the pre-university education sector. These projects resulted in the establishment, replacement, and expansion of 973 classrooms.
A total of 13 sewage and drinking water projects have been implemented to achieve Goal 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all.
It also provided sewage to 10 villages and constructed a lifting station and discharge line in Ramla village.
Furthermore, the report indicated that within SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy, the Egyptian government worked to afford the supply and installation of 1,200 lighting poles and their accessories. This included 35,000 lighting equipment and 3,750 LED spotlights.
Concerning SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, the report stated that the Egyptian government has completed 31 projects for the paving and development of local roads, which resulted in the paving and development of roads with a length of 74 km, the completion of paving internal roads with a length of 54 km, the construction of 2 pedestrian bridges and 3 tunnels in Kafr Shebeen and Shubra El-Kheima, 2 bridges over canals and drains, as well as the construction of about 4,200 housing units within the social housing projects.
The report dealt with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, which included canal rehabilitation and lining (Al-Janabia Al-Yemeni of Bahr Al-Khalili, Al-Hizaniyya, Shaker Canal, Kashmir Al-Yemeni, Al-Barshomiya).
Regarding SDG 13: Climate Action, 12 projects have been completed within the environmental improvement program.
On the waterways, there was 2.7 km of canals and drains, as well as 318 cleaning equipment, tippers, loaders, and sweeping cars.
About the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, “A Decent Life” in Al-Qalyubia, the report indicated that during the year (2021/2022), the implementation of 3 social units, 5 agricultural service complexes, 7 health units, 4 ambulance units, a central hospital, and 2 gas stations was completed, sewerage treatment, a drinking water plant, as well as connecting the optical fiber network to about 11 villages, and natural gas to about 9 towns.
Concerning the twelfth goal, "Responsible consumption and production", the rehabilitation and lining of canals (Al-Janabia Al-Yemeni of Bahr Al-Khalili, Al-Hizaniyya, Shaker Canal, Kashmir Al-Yemeni, Al-Barshomiya) have been completed. Regarding climate action's thirteenth goal, 12 projects have been completed within the environmental improvement program. The waterways were covered with canals and drains lengths of 2.7 km, receiving 318 cleaning equipment, tippers, loaders, sweeping cars, and garbage bins.
Concerning the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, “A Decent Life” in Qalyubia, the report indicated that during the year (2021/2022), the implementation of 3 social units, 5 agricultural service complexes, 7 health units, 4 ambulance units, a central hospital, and 2 gas stations was completed.
