EGP 2.1 bn spent on 280 local development projects in Menoufia Governorate during FY 21/2022: Minister of Planning

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a "harvest" report entitled (Citizen’s Follow Up), which includes a tally, to sum up, the projects of the (Citizen Investment Plan) that have been fully completed in the main sectors, in Menoufia Governorate, during FY (21/2022), according to the “Programs and Performance” budget.
H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, confirmed that the ministry attaches special importance to activating community participation, transparency, and accountability, by moving from the “Citizen Investment Plan” to “Citizen’s Follow-Up”, to spread awareness among citizens of the state's achievements.
This came within the framework of the efforts made to localize the sustainable development goals in the governorates, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, stating that the “Citizen Follow-Up” reports aim to localize the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the governorates.
El-Said further noted that the “Citizen Follow-up” report in the Menoufia Governorate during the fiscal year (2021/2022) shows that 280 development projects have been completed in 5 sectors at a total investment cost of EGP 2.1 billion.
The “Citizen Follow-up” report indicated that the most significant performance indicators implemented in the Menoufia Governorate during the fiscal year (2021/2022) included the establishment, replacement, and expansion of 1,319 classrooms.
Concerning the implementation of the UN goals for sustainable development in the Menoufia governorate, the “Citizen’s Follow-up” report indicated that concerning the 2nd SDG (Goal 2: Zero Hunger) 2 projects have been implemented to develop water resources, develop and raise the efficiency of the Deir El-Baraka pumping station.
In that context, the Egyptian government also worked to replace and renew agricultural drainage and water networks.
Concerning Goal 4: Quality education, 70 projects have been implemented in the pre-university education sector, and 1,319 classrooms have been established, replaced, and expanded.
Goal 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all including the implementation of 15 projects for sanitation services delivery, benefiting about 100,000 citizens.
Concerning (Goal 7): Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all: 35 projects within the local development program (electricity and lighting) have been completed, and 675 lighting poles have been supplied and installed with their accessories.
Regarding Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable: 616 housing units have been established within the social housing, and 17 projects within the security, firefighting, and traffic program, which resulted in the provision of various equipment and supplies (fire trucks, cranes, fire hydrants), 28 projects within the program to support the needs of local units (including the development of the technological center in El-Shohada City).
The report dealt with SDG goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production, where 12 projects were implemented to rehabilitate and line canals measuring 35.3 km.
As for Goal 13: Climate action: 76 projects were completed within the environmental improvement program, and the construction and development of 4 parks were completed in the towns of Tala, Al-Bajour, and Shebeen Al-Kom.
The citizen follow-up report sheds light on the harvest of projects completed in 2021/2022 within the first phase of the “Decent Life” initiative in the Menoufia Governorate, where the government completed the construction of 6 social units, 19 residential buildings, 5 agricultural service complexes, 2 ambulance units, and 15 health units.
