Planning Ministry's delegation visits Ash Sharqia Governorate to follow up on "Green Village" Initiative standards

Planning Ministry's delegation visited Ash Sharqia Governorate to follow up on the standards of the "Green Village" initiative within the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, "A Decent Life" to rehabilitate the villages of the presidential initiative to comply with international environmental standards, in cooperation with the "E CONSULT" company.
Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning for Follow-up Affairs of the Sustainable Development Plan, said that the work team continues its field visits to the villages nominated to obtain a "rationalization for green communities" certificate, stressing the importance of meeting the green village standards set by the World Green Building Council.
Helmy added that the total number of "decent life" projects in Al-Hussainiya town amounts to 775 development projects, benefiting 41 villages, intended to improve the quality of life in the town's villages.
Helmy pointed out that the sanitation and drinking water sector covers all villages with sewage. It also includes implementing 10 sewage treatment plants, 20 water stations, and a crane for drinking water.
Helmy pointed out that the educational services development sector includes the establishment, development, and maintenance of 107 schools, and in the health services sector, the establishment and development of 61 health units and 7 ambulance units, in addition to the establishment and development of 37 youth centers, 10 government service complexes, and 10 agricultural service complexes, and the rehabilitation and lining of 36 canals with a length of 113 km.

The meeting dealt with the importance of integrating environmental sustainability into the "Decent Life" initiative projects and spreading awareness among citizens of the need to preserve the huge number of implemented projects, which is a quantum leap in citizen services.
The ministry delegation, which includes Ahmed Al-Shimi and Muhammad Sharif Al-Hali, coordinator of the “Decent Life” initiative at the Ministry of Planning, went to Saud Island, which is affiliated with Al-Hussainiya town, and inspected projects for establishing, raising the efficiency and maintenance of 12 schools in the village and its dependencies, with a total of 246 classes, accommodating 11.500 students.
The ministry delegation also visited the Family and Child Development Center, with a completion rate of 98%, the fire station with a completion rate of 90%, the police point with a completion rate of 100%, the first aid point with a completion rate of 100%, the Family Medicine Center with a completion rate of 95%, and the Bard Island Youth Center.
The center began to provide services to the youth of the village and neighboring villages, and the Husseiniya post office, which serves the people of the village of Saud and its dependencies, and is the first post office in Ash Sharqia governorate to be established per green building standards, with a completion rate of 80%, and the expansion of the sewage plant with a capacity of 10 thousand m3 / day as well as connecting the village to natural gas by 100% and the optical fiber network by 100%.
The criteria of the "Green Village" include the adoption of modern irrigation methods, interest in organic agriculture with higher productivity and high return, and its positive impact on citizens' public health, by converting agricultural waste into organic fertilizer.
In this context, the ministry's delegation visited models for drip irrigation of agricultural land and compost production units.
The ministry delegation held a panel discussion with the people of the village. This was to listen to their views on the "Decent Life" projects and any priority projects from their point of view.
