Planning Ministry's delegation continues to monitor the "Green Village" standards in the New Valley Governorate

Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development officials followed up on the availability of the "Green Village" initiative in the villages in Al-Farafra town in the New Valley. The initiative aims to rehabilitate the villages of the Egyptian National Rural Development Project "A Decent Life", in conformity with global environmental standards, in cooperation with ECOnsult for engineering and environmental consulting.
Dr. Jamil Halmy, Assistant Minister of Planning for the Follow-up to the Sustainable Development Plan, stated that the total number of projects of (Decent Life) at Al Farafra Center reaches 260 development projects in the sanitation and drinking water sector, benefiting 25 villages, for EGP 2.5 billion to improve the level of services provided to citizens in various sectors.
The ministry delegation visited the "Decent Life" project in the village of Major General Sabih and inspected the technology center in the village, which includes 7 services (real estate registration, civil registry, post office, local council, and local unit, catering office, social solidarity unit), with a completion rate of 100% as well as the agricultural Services Center, which includes a veterinary unit, an agricultural extension center, and an agricultural association, with a completion rate of 100%, as the center began to provide its services to citizens.
The delegation also visited the water purification plant with a capacity of 200 m3/hour, with a completion rate of 100%, and a sewage treatment plant, with a capacity of 3000 m3/day, with a completion rate of 75%, and a tree forest attached to it on an area of 78 acres, and a family medicine unit with a completion rate of 100%.
The delegation also inspected the Community Development Association's activities in the village. This includes workshops for manufacturing carpets, rugs, handicrafts, and heritage products. It also includes a nursery, entertainment venues, a computer training hall, and a nursery for mango, olive, and palm plants.
In the context of keenness to listen to the opinions of citizens on the projects implemented within the “Decent Life” initiative or any priority projects or initiatives from their point of view, the ministry delegation held a consultative session with the people of the village, with the participation of Nabil Hanafi, head of Farafra town and city, and leaders of local units.
The ministry’s delegation includes Ahmed Al-Shimi and Mohamed Sharif Al-Hali, coordinators of the “Decent Life” initiative at the Ministry of Planning, and from ECOnsult, Eng. Muhammad Mustafa and Ahmed Al-Sharif.
