Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, participated in the Sustainability and Government Business Forum organized by the League of Arab States in Cairo on behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Planning, Dr. The Arab Organization for Administrative Development, Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Minister of State for Governmental Development and the Future of the UAE, Ohood Al-Roumi, and a number of representatives of educational and commercial institutions.

During his speech, Ambassador Hisham Badr reviewed the extent to which the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects relates to the concept of sustainability through the submitted projects, as among the criteria for selecting qualified and winning projects is the availability of the element of sustainability and the consequent return on the level of the individual and the environment

The initiative provides an opportunity to earn at the individual level by achieving a tangible return from the project and at the state level by finding environmental solutions that limit climate change.

His Excellency expressed the initiative's keenness to transfer its experience to the Arab countries, as an unprecedented global initiative that is being implemented for the first time in the world in all governorates, indicating that the initiative has received international praise from international organizations and institutions.

The General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects confirmed that one of the most important gains of the initiative is the transition from the local to the national and then to the global, by presenting it to 100 million Egyptians.

In addition to creating a database of smart green projects that participated in the first round of the initiative and its ability to link them with financiers and investors, indicating that the database produced a map showing the geographical location of each project and its nature, which makes it easier for the investor to access projects that meet his needs or fall within his circle of interest.

Ambassador Hisham Badr also explained that the initiative, in its second session, seeks to maximize the benefit from the results of the first session to present projects and solutions at the COP28 in the UAE, given that Egypt is the president of the cup and will hand it over to the UAE in November 2023.

The initiative is keen on the participation of all segments of society in environmental projects that serve the process of sustainable development, as it includes 6 categories, including small, medium and large projects, startups, non-profit companies, and women’s projects, highlighting the initiative’s focus on empowering women and youth in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development. . Badr also indicated that to successfully achieve sustainability, it is important to generate income from climate challenges by turning these projects into a source of income, explaining that this was one of the most important gains of the first round of the initiative.

At the end of the conference, the national coordinator of the initiative met with Mrs. Ohood Al-Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future in the UAE, and they discussed aspects of cooperation in various fields, and presented the initiative at the COP28 to be held in the UAE.
