NIGSD, National Council for People of Determination sign MoU to enhance mutual co-operation

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the Institute, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Council for People of Determination, represented by Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the Council, in the field of supporting and empowering People of Determination.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Hussein Abaza, an expert at the United Nations Environment Program. In addition, Amira Hossam, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Sustainable Development Affairs.

Following signing the memorandum of understanding, Dr. Sherifa Sherif confirmed that supporting and empowering People of determination is one of the most important goals of NIGSD within the framework of carrying out various research and training activities to enhance the status of the Egyptian state and upgrade national cadres in light of Egypt's Vision 2030.

She further explained that the signed MoU between NIGSD and the National Council for People of Determination includes cooperation in joint support for the process of sustainable human development through the design and implementation of activities related to the development of human capabilities and various research and training activities for people of determination within the framework of dissemination and promotion of the principles of governance and sustainable development.

Sherif referred to the important role that the former participants of the Council can play in the "Be an Ambassador" initiative who are already graduated and become ambassadors for sustainable development and accredited graduates in spreading awareness of sustainable development goals within the National Council for People of Determination.

She stressed NIGSD’s readiness to direct all aspects of support that the Council needs whether it is training or awareness-raising experiences, emphasizing the importance of measuring the training impact on the participant in the training, and the institute uses the results of this measurement to increase the training quality standards for the programs it offers, in addition to developing training curricula and adding different topics according to the results of the training impact measurement.

For her part, Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the National Council for People of Determination, welcomed the cooperation with NIGSD especially in programs that serve and work to rehabilitate, train and empower people with disabilities, stressing that the coming period will witness more cooperation between the Council and the Institute. In preparing and implementing some training programs that meet the needs of determination-driven people. 

The General Supervisor of the Council expressed her happiness at meeting the graduates of the first batch of determination-driven people in the "Be an Ambassador" initiative and stressed that they are the best ambassadors who can communicate the information and training they obtained to their peers.
