The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development Launches the Second Round of the “She is for a Digital Future” in Africa

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the ministry of planning and Economic Development, Represented in the Training Network for Management Institutes in Africa "Tanmia," launched the second round of “She is for a Digital Future” initiative, via remote learning, with the participation of trainees from Lesotho in cooperation with CISCO.
The second class incorporated women from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offenses (DCEO), the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Employment, the Ministry of Social development, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Communication, Science and technology, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, In addition to female trainees from the information technology sector, communications, human resources, training and development, and the Lesotho Institute Of Public Administration and Management (LIPAM)
The Executive Chief of NISGD Dr. Sherifa Sherif said that the diversification of sectors present in the second class of the “She is for a Digital Future” helps African version of the Egyptian initiative to reach many sectors.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif pointed out the “She is for a Digital Future” initiative is offered by NIGSD under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to Egyptian and African women in Arabic, English, and French languages, aiming, in principal, to mend the digital gap between the two genders in the fields of technology and digital transformation. She also clarified that the initiative is the first of its kind in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Africa aiming to empower women and enhance their technological skills of youth from the age of 18 to 50 years of age. Then she explained that the initiative addresses many issues related to computer science including the principles of computing, The basics of computer operating systems and their different types, the internet, social media, managing remote meetings via the Zoom application, concepts of cybersecurity and digital transformation, pointing out that it is targeted to launch more classes in both English and French languages in Africa.
Meanwhile, the head of the African Development Center Dr. Hanan Rizk clarified that initiative was launched for the first time on the African level last August, and included 20 women from Kenya from the nursing, police, school, hotels, and health sectors. In addition to the participation of businesswomen, and female students from the technical education sector, which makes the African version of the initiative unique as it is not limited to trainees from the public sector.
