Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said: Ministry of Planning, NIGSD runs a training program for the "Youth Initiative for Development" for the academic year 2022/2023

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, organized a training program on writing policy papers for young people participating in student competitions with the Youth for Development initiative in the context of policy papers for the academic year 2022/2023, in cooperation with The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) at the center’s headquarters in Egypt's New Administrative Capital from 23 to 25 May.
This program comes within the framework of training programs organized by the Youth for Development Initiative. These programs are for students participating in research competitions.
Dr. Mohamed Alaa - Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office and Head of the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, General Coordinator of the Youth for Development Initiative at the Ministry, Dr. Mai Mohsen, Director of the General Administration of the Technical Office of the Head of the Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers, and Responsible for Public policy forum center.
During his speech, Dr. Muhammad Alaa praised the efforts made by the university coordinators and the participation of students in student competitions on their various tracks. This was whether on the path of development projects or policy papers.
He also pointed out that this year's Youth for Development initiative is witnessing wider participation of Egyptian governmental, private, and private universities, stressing the importance that the state attaches to listening to the opinions and ideas of young people to benefit from them, and also to present policy papers and advanced development projects that contribute to supporting public policies. Country, and reflect positively on the development process.
For her part, Dr. Mai Mohsen praised the cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in the Youth for Development initiative through the center's holding of training for the youth participating in the initiative, as well as helping the young winners of the first places in the competition to develop their ideas and revise their papers in preparation for their publication in the center, stressing the importance of the initiative Youth for Development in supporting the state's general policies.
She stressed the importance of the initiative in supporting general state policies. She also emphasized that such initiatives reflect the state's faith in university youth.
She also concluded her speech by introducing the Public Policy Forum at the Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers.
The meeting witnessed extensive discussions between the lecturer and the trainees in the program. This led to the creation of an interactive training environment on public policies and how to formulate public policy papers and write summaries.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Karmani, assistant professor of public policy at the American University in Cairo, and Dr. Hisham Shafiq, lecturer at the United Nations Training Institute and policy advisor at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), will participate in the teams' training for the next two days.
Dr. Anwar Mahmoud Al-Naqeeb, Professor of Economics and Director of the Consultation and Research Center at the Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences, participated in the training on the first day and gave a lecture on defining the concept of public policies, the frameworks governing them, understanding the mechanisms of implementing policies and acquiring the skills of drafting policy papers.
The fifteen public, private, and private university students participating in the initiative this year participated in the event, which are the universities of Cairo, Ain Shams, Port Said, Alexandria, Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta, Mansoura, Beni Suef, Helwan, Asyut, the Suez Canal, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), Galala University (GU), British University, Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences.
