On the sidelines of the annual meeting of ADB Planning Minister, Regional Bureau for Arab Countries of UNDP Director discuss cooperation ways

H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, met recently with Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardiri, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab Countries of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The previous meeting took place on the sidelines of her attendance at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank. Egypt hosts this meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh under the title "Mobilizing Private Sector Financing for Climate and Green”.
The 58th Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank and the 49th Meetings of the Board of Governors of the African Development Fund were inaugurated this morning by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the presence of heads of some brotherly African countries, ministers of planning and finance and central bank governors from eighty-one countries as well as regional and non-regional members, in addition to many business leaders, representatives of the private sector, several academics, and development partners, with a large attendance of about 4,000 participants.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said congratulated Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardari on assuming his recently appointed position as Director of the Regional Office for the Arab Countries of the United Nations Development Program. She stressed the aspiration to cooperate with the program on a wide range of projects and achieve many successes.
She pointed out that the Ministry of Planning values its partnership with the United Nations Development Program. This is in the various forms of cooperation currently underway. She highlighted the long-standing relationship that has led to many fruitful collaborations in the past.
El-Said also highlighted the importance of the United Nations Development Program's continued support and collaborative efforts in the success of this year's Human Development Report. This builds on Egypt's previous Human Development Report success.
The Minister of Planning referred to the launch of the Egyptian Development Portal as part of Egypt's efforts to stimulate and encourage a comprehensive and participatory path to sustainable development and to enable policies, investments, and programs based on data and evidence.
She further explained that the Egyptian Development Portal is the result of a collective partnership between all knowledge producers in Egypt. This partnership is to collect the latest data and information available on the platform.

El-Said also pointed out the launch of the Impact Measurement Lab, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) under the umbrella of the Egypt Impact Lab, in cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority, and includes three main projects: formalizing micro, small and medium enterprises under a new license for those projects, supporting SMEs to be more export-oriented, financial inclusion and credit for farmers.
El-Said said Egypt is currently focusing on localizing sustainable development goals at the governorate level, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program.
She added that the Ministry of Planning is preparing, with the support of the program, for a side event on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum 2023, to present the Egyptian experience in preparation for the Voluntary National Review Report.
She explained that many workshops were held in three governorates, Fayoum, Beheira, and Port Said. These workshops were to collect data and consult on the local voluntary report content among various stakeholders.
El-Said added that the ministry is finalizing the second edition of the report on sustainable development goals localization covering 27 Egyptian governorates. She explained that the coverage of indicators had increased from 32 indicators in 2020 to about 45 in 2023.
