The Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Ahmed Kamali, the Vice President of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones Counselor, Amr Nour El-Din, and the Director of the Country Program Follow-up Unit at the Ministry of Planning Dr. Heba Youssef participated in the Steering Group Meeting of the MENA-OECD in Paris.
During his participation in the session on global challenges and regional priorities in the MENA region, Dr. Ahmed Kamali referred to the most prominent challenges facing the Middle East region, represented by high levels of debt, low human development indicators, and slow growth per capita GDP.
He highlighted some important policies to meet these challenges, including strengthening the regional presence in global value chains, increasing the complexity of export products, improving the investment climate, and increasing the private sector's contribution to economic activity while strengthening partnerships between the private and public sectors.
During the strategic priority for the support of green transformation for the development of the private sector in the MENA region session, Dr. Kamali demonstrated Egypt’s efforts in supporting green transformation, increasing the rate of green projects in the country’s investment plan, indicating that the target is to reach 50% in the coming years.
Meanwhile, Counselor Amr Nour El-Din addressed the incentives the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones offers to encourage green projects.
